打电话可能是所有英语场景里最"裸"的一个:看不到表情,没有手势可以比划,信号还随时掉线。也正因为如此,电话英语里的直译味最藏不住——一句 Hello? Who are you? 语法一点毛病没有,但对面已经觉得你在查户口了。
下面 12 句按一通电话的流程排:接起来怎么开场,没听清、打不通怎么办,最后怎么体面地挂断。全部来自像话用户的真实练习记录,每条给出母语者的说法和一句话原因。
接起电话:开场三句话
- ✗ Hello, I am Li Ming. → ✓ Hi, this is Li Ming. —— 电话里自报家门用 this is;I am 是当面介绍。
- ✗ Hello? Who are you? → ✓ May I ask who's calling? —— 电话里问 Who are you 很冲;客气的问法是 Who's calling。
- ✗ Sorry, you called wrong. → ✓ Sorry, you've got the wrong number. —— 打错电话的固定说法是 wrong number,「call wrong」不成立。
- ✗ Please wait a moment. → ✓ Hang on a sec. —— wait a moment 是客服腔;朋友之间让人稍等就说 hang on。
没听清、打不通
- ✗ Your sound is too small. → ✓ Could you speak up a bit? —— 声音小不是 sound small;请对方大声点,说 speak up。
- ✗ Your phone can't get through. → ✓ I couldn't get through to you. —— 打不通的主语是打电话的人:I couldn't get through。
- ✗ My phone has no electricity. → ✓ Sorry, my phone died. —— 手机没电说 dead 或 out of battery,electricity 是供电系统。
- ✗ Sorry, I didn't receive your call. → ✓ Sorry, I missed your call. —— 没接到电话说 missed your call,receive 像在收快递。
挂断与回消息
- ✗ I hang up first, bye. → ✓ I've got to go — talk later! —— "我先挂了"别直译成 hang up first,说 I've got to go。
- ✗ I will call to you tonight. → ✓ I'll call you tonight. —— call 直接接人,不需要 to。
- ✗ Why you don't return my message? → ✓ Why didn't you text me back? —— 回消息是 text back,return 是"归还东西"。
- ✗ Scan me, add my WeChat. → ✓ Here, scan my QR code. —— scan me 成了"扫我这个人";要扫的是 my QR code。
怎么练成肌肉记忆
电话英语最需要反射,因为它没有思考时间:铃响了就得接,对面说完就轮到你。所以光看懂没用——上面中枪的句子,现在就出声读三遍 ✓ 的版本,读到不用想就能说出口为止。
